Pete Asmer – Special Counsel
Pete Asmer is an effective trial lawyer with over twenty-five (25) years of experience known for representing insurers, corporations and individuals seeking to recover their damages from complex, catastrophic property losses caused by product defects, construction deficiencies and electrical and mechanical errors. Pete also has extensive experience litigating transportation and cargo losses, commercial and business disputes, insurance coverage claims - including bad faith, professional liability, and general subrogation and recovery. Pete previously practiced at Cozen O’Connor for 22 years where he was the firm’s Southeast Regional Chairmen of the Subrogation & Recovery Department managing the firm’s subrogation and recovery practice throughout the southern United States through the firm’s Charlotte, Atlanta and Miami offices.
A frequent lecturer for his clients and groups in the insurance industry, he conducts seminars and has taught courses in the areas of fire and catastrophic loss investigation for organizations such as the International Association of Arson Investigators (IAAI), the American Academy of Applied Forensics (AAAF) and state and local fire departments.
In addition to his litigation work, Pete also advises companies in the medical sales and manufacturing industry on risk allocation, contract negotiations, distribution deals and partnership/joint venture projects. He is a North Carolina Certified Superior Court Mediator.
